Article 5: Coupons
My colleagues in the UK are always banging on about MONP* coupons and how coupon promotions makes up a large part of their business – imaging how frustrating it has been for me not to even have a pie to have a slice of!
The good news is that Coles (at least) seem to be moving into this space – rather hesitantly perhaps but there is certainly movement in the right direction.
The obvious advantage to a coupon campaign is offering a discount as a reward - away from the shelf - however other benefits include potential to upsell, brand switch and encourage repeat purchase. The humble coupon should not be overlooked.
One of the associated difficulties of using money off coupons is that of estimating the likely redemption levels. Not anymore....!
So, whether distributed through in-store sampling, on or in-pack, DM or good old print media URMA can help you mange the risk of redemption and provide a financial framework for the activity.
